TURI CROSS COUNTRY TEAM SPIRIT AND TOUGH TRAINING LEADS TO AN OUTSTANDING 2ND POSITION OVERALL

Team Braeburn travelled gallantly and once again nervously to the high altitude Cross Country destination at Turi. Our team had worked hard both at school and in training at weekends. We were represented by four teams and had high hopes despite the tough competition coming from a total of eleven Schools.

Our team should be very proud again this year finishing overall in 2nd position to an outstanding Turi St Andrews Team. It should be stated that we were not quite full strength as a number of team players were not able to travel. Our athletic position this year looks therefore very promising as we advance towards The International Athletics Championships at Kasarani.

UNDER 19 GIRLS TRIUMPH AT VARSITY NETBALL TOURNAMENT AT BROOKHOUSE

Both under 15 teams and under 19 teams were entered and our younger team should be very proud of their performance making the semi final and having to play the might of our older, under 19 team. The future of Netball at Braeburn is certainly bright.

The under 19s swept aside the opposition in the group matches including Hillcrest and Greensteds and finallly faced a strong Brookhouse in the final. This team, they had lost to in the final last year. The first half was a tight game and the girls led narrowly thanks to some excellent under pressure play from Kamba and Danai. As always Jane Hakim made it very difficult for the Brookhouse assaults on their D. At half time coach Ms Ogot made a risky tactical change, moving Jane Hakim from goal defense to goal shooter. Brookhouse had no answer and the final score moved to 10-4.

Well done to the girls for another legendary effort.

KAISSO Under 19 Girls Hockey AT Hillcrest

A well balanced team took to the field last Saturday consisting of year 11, 12 and 13s. The girsl had high hopes of retaining their place as u19 champions. Captain Nzakwa led as usual by example and opposition found it very difficult to score against us. The team cruised through to the semi finals and won 2-0 against a solid St Christopher’s team. Hillcrest also suffered defeat in the group matches. Finally we faced a surprisingly strong Greensteds side and the game was an end to end spectacle. Both teams had their chances and finally, it was Greensteds who broke the deadlock. The team, although a little disappointed through their own high expectations must be congratulated once again for their commitment and ability to make finals against the best in Nairobi.
