2023 Begins with a Splash!

14th January 2023

Every year the Braeburn family of schools come together for a celebration of swimming, bringing participants from as far away as Kisumu, Mombasa, Arusha and Nanyuki. This year's gala was hosted by Braeside School who did a wonderful job of making everyone welcome.

The standard of swimming showed incredible development, epitomised by the number of new records set. Our swimmers alone set 23 new speed records (out of a total of 64 events), and Braeburn School now holds an impressive 31 records in the gala.

In the 9 & Under category, our swimmers came first in both boys and girls teams. In the 10/11 years category, the girls came 1st and the boys came 3rd. In the 12/13 years category, both girls and boys came 3rd. Overall our boys placed 2nd and the girls won their category. After compiling all the points from the gala, Braeburn School was declared overall Inter-Braeburn Gala champions!

Well done to all of our swimmers who performed so superbly in the pool and encouraged each other brilliantly from the pool side. Their efforts were rewarded with 54 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 28 bronze medals (these clearly add up to more than the 64 events but include 4 medals for each of the relay races). The success of the swimmers is down to their ability, hard work and time spent in the pool developing their strokes, the support of their parents, and to the quality coaching from Mrs Isige, Mr Malalo and Mr Dacar they have been receiving.

They emerged from the waters of the gala even more motivated to become even better swimmers.
