Braeburn represents excellence in all fields, combining rigorous academic standards with an authentic, joyful, holistic education. Our aim is to ensure that students love coming to school, and develop the talent, curiosity, character, passion and self-belief they need to thrive. In doing so, we prepare our young people for success beyond Braeburn, and to become confident, compassionate and ambitious leaders in Kenya and around the world.

Based in the heart of Nairobi, Braeburn has, over many decades, developed a truly distinctive community. We bring together International and Kenyan families, creating an environment in which different cultures, perspectives and experiences are valued and celebrated. Our location in Kenya’s capital provides an extraordinary context for learning, giving our students opportunities to engage with and learn from the rich diversity, energy and possibilities that surround them.

At the heart of Braeburn is our belief that strong relationships are fundamental to great education. These relationships help our students to feel known, valued and confident to flourish in every aspect of school life. As a genuinely all-through school, students from the age of two benefit from a strong sense of belonging and continuity, learning alongside and from older students and being inspired by the breadth of leadership, service and responsibility that our older students embrace.

Curricula

Early Years

Our Early Years curriculum, for children aged 2 to 5, is designed to spark curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. Grounded in the latest evidence-based approaches to early childhood development, our teaching combines carefully structured play with purposeful exploration. Children develop socially, emotionally, physically, and creatively, supported by specialist teaching in music, physical education, swimming, library time, and cooking. Daily outdoor learning further nurtures independence, resilience, and a strong connection with the natural world, ensuring every child builds the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed for a confident start to their educational journey.

Prep School

In Prep School, for pupils aged 6 to 13, we build on these strong foundations through teaching that reflects the latest evidence-based educational practice. Our broad and ambitious curriculum is designed to challenge, inspire, and support every pupil to achieve their full potential. With equal emphasis on academic excellence and the development of creativity, physical confidence, and personal character, pupils are encouraged to discover and develop their individual talents. Through rich experiences in academics, music, sport, the arts, outdoor learning, and drama, we equip pupils with the skills, knowledge, values, and attitudes they need to thrive and be successful in their chosen pathways.

Senior School

Our Senior School offers an exceptional education for students aged 13 to 18, nurturing a caring and supportive environment where every individual is known, valued and encouraged to thrive.

We provide an education of the highest quality, designed to maximise each student’s academic, physical and creative potential. Through a rich and engaging curriculum, students are challenged to think critically, learn independently and strive for excellence in all that they do.

At the heart of our community is a commitment to building positive and respectful relationships between students, staff, parents and the wider community. Within our genuinely international setting, we promote cross-cultural understanding, curiosity and a deep appreciation of the world beyond the classroom, preparing students to lead purposeful and fulfilling lives.

Sixth Form

Our Sixth Form provides a dynamic and supportive environment in which students in their final two years of Senior School are empowered to excel academically and grow into confident, independent young adults. Through a rigorous and personalised academic pathway, complemented by a wide-ranging enrichment programme, students are encouraged to explore their interests, develop leadership skills and prepare for their future.

Strong relationships with peers and staff foster a sense of belonging and mutual respect, while an emphasis on international awareness and ambition ensures students are well prepared for higher education and life beyond school. The vast majority of our students go on to secure places at their first-choice universities worldwide.
