12th November 2025
Year 5 pupils had an exciting opportunity to extend their learning in their Earth and Space unit with a memorable visit to the planetarium on the 11th and 12th of November. Inside the immersive dome, they explored shimmering constellations, neighbouring planets, and the movement of celestial bodies. The experience helped them visualise how Earth rotates, orbits the Sun, and fits into the wider solar system, reinforcing key ideas from their classroom discussions.
The highlight for many was the space robotics workshop, where pupils discovered how technology helps us explore environments humans cannot reach. They had the chance to experiment with simple robotic controls, applying teamwork and problem-solving skills as they navigated small challenges. This hands-on activity showed how engineering and science work together to support space exploration.
By the end of the trip, our 5s returned to school inspired and full of curiosity. The planetarium visit not only deepened their understanding of Earth and Space but also sparked fresh excitement for scientific discovery, encouraging them to continue asking questions about the universe around them.
