A Feast of Roman Fun in Year 4!

1st October 2025

In true Year 4 tradition, pupils once again stepped back in time to experience the excitement of Roman Day. This term, they have been exploring the fascinating world of the Roman Empire — its disciplined armies, clever battle tactics, and remarkable contributions such as roads, aqueducts, and even new foods that still influence us today. They also learned about the fierce Celtic resistance led by Boudicca, comparing the lives of Romans and Celts in vivid detail.

On Wednesday 1st October, the classroom was transformed into a scene from history as children arrived dressed as Romans and Celts, ready for a day of immersive activities. They raced in chariots, battled in gladiator games, and tested their engineering skills by designing models of the Colosseum. Alongside this, they tackled Roman numerals and explored the myths of gods and goddesses that shaped Roman beliefs.

The day came to a fitting end with a lively Roman-style feast, filled with food, laughter, and celebration—a wonderful way to bring history to life.
