A Great Show at the IAPS Under 11 and 13 Boys Hockey Tournament

4th March 2023

On Saturday 4th March, Kenton College Preparatory School hosted the Under 11 and 13 Boys Hockey Tournament, including schools (besides the hosts) such as The Banda, St. Andrew's Turi, Pembroke, Hillcrest, Brookhouse, Peponi House, Braeburn Garden Estate and Braeburn School.

It was a show of great skill, sportsmanship and team spirit by the Braeburn Under 11 Boys, impressing their coaches with their positive attitude, win or lose, and by far their drive and zeal to play hard and claim victory. They made it through the group stages into the semifinals and finals, where they conceded their first and only goal of the tournament to Braeburn Garden Estate.

For the U13 Boys, after a rather lacklustre start to the season, the U13 1st boys hockey team stepped up to the plate, and gave a wonderful display of hockey. They were seeded last among all the teams, and placed in the same pool with The Banda, Peponi, St Andrew's Turi, and Kenton 2nds. They may have been seeded last but they emerged top of their pool with wins against The Banda and St. Andrew's, and a loss and a draw against Kenton 2nds and Peponi respectively. They qualified for the semi-finals, where they put up a spirited fight, but lost to Kenton who were the eventual winners of the tournament.

As a result of the outstanding performance, three of our boys; Trey Garner, Matthew Naibo, and Alejandro Leveanasiga were selected for the Nairobi West Team, which will be taking on Nairobi East, and Up-Country Schools on Sunday 12th March.

A massive congratulations to the three boys on their selection, and to all the teams, well done!
