Thursday 7th November - Saturday 9th November 2024
From Thursday to Saturday night we witnessed stellar performances in ‘Alice by Heart’. Each show with its own energy and vitality, and each show setting an extremely high standard. With two casts lead by Milla Ternois and Amie Katta as Alice and Theodore Kalilombe and Alexander Stowe as Alfred, wonderfully supported by the other cast members, these students presented a packed theatre with an incredible production. Everything about the performance was breathtaking. This year’s production will remain with us for many years to come.
As Miss Coleman explains:
“This unique adaptation of the Off-Broadway musical, inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, has been entirely devised and choreographed by the students themselves. In a dynamic collaboration between the drama and music departments, our young performers have taken creative ownership of the story, reinterpreting it through fresh and imaginative lenses.
A Unique, Double-Cast Experience
One of the most exciting aspects of this production is our stellar double cast, offering audiences two distinct interpretations of the beloved characters and scenes. Each cast brings its own style and energy, ensuring a variety of performances across the four-show run. No two performances will be the same, providing a rich and diverse theatrical experience for all who attend.
Student-Led Creativity
From start to finish, this show has been a labour of love from the students, who have not only embraced the acting roles but have also taken charge of the choreography, movement direction, and creative staging. Through a process of workshops, improvisation, and collaboration, they have crafted a version of Alice By Heart that reflects their collective imagination, personalities, and passion for theatre.
A Story for the Heart and Soul
Set in a World War II London underground shelter, Alice By Heart transports audiences to Wonderland, offering a poignant message about resilience, escapism, and the power of imagination in times of adversity. With a mix of physical theatre, intricate ensemble work, and emotionally charged performances, this production will take you on a journey through both the whimsical and the heart-wrenching moments of Alice’s adventure.
Thank you for joining us for this unforgettable, student-devised production where creativity, talent, and hard work meet to bring the world of Alice By Heart to life on stage.”
