6th October 2023
On Friday 6th October, Year 4 pupils brought Ancient Rome back to life with the celebration of Roman Day. Adorned in royal reds, golds and whites, they reflected on and appreciated all they had learned about the Romans during the first 6 weeks of the school term. Spotted at the Year 4 block was Julius Caesar, Rome’s famous leader, a 6,000 strong legion of fierce soldiers who conquered the entire school, and an array of Roman nobles dressed in fine silks, golds, and other precious metals and jewels.
However, the Romans did not have an easy go of it, for a few British Celt warriors showed up and put up a mighty fight, including brave Boudicca herself! It was great to see the Year 4s enjoying and displaying all the knowledge they had gained about the Romans, as well as sharing that knowledge with the rest of the pupils in the school.
To crown it all off in true Roman style, an opulent feast was had in the afternoon by the Year 4 pupils; from grapes and olives to scrumptious cakes and pies, gelato, choice meats, breads and so much more! A great day it was, full of fun and lots of learning about the historically significant Roman Empire.
