CHOOSE RESPECT; the theme of this year's anti bullying week. We began with an assembly to discuss the value of respect; respect for ourselves, for others and the right to be respected. A reminder of the importance of kindness and empathy in our daily actions and to treat others the way you wish to be treated.
PSHE lessons this week have also focused on this theme with discussion around what bullying is, the forms that bullying can take, some top tips to help students be respectful and the support options available to them in school. I would like to appreciate the support of our senators and peer counsellors who also ran some activities with the Year 9 classes on this topic of building respect in order to combat bullying in the school.
The week finished with Odd Socks Day, an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique! An important message to respect everyone around you no matter who they are. I am also sharing a parents and carers pack, produced by the Anti-Bullying Alliance in the UK, to help you continue the conversation at home.
