Article 3 Triumph in Debate: Key Stage 3 Inter-house Showdown!

The Key Stage 3 Inter- house debate held on Friday, 24th May, was a delightful and enriching experience for everyone involved, including the judges, audience, timekeepers, chairs, and especially the speakers.

“These activities not only boost confidence but also help us develop our public speaking skills.”

Ipsa Bedi, 8K, emphasised that debating instils essential skills such as constructing effective rebuttals and standing up for one's rights. "Personally, I have always had a passion for participating in inter-house debates or any form of debate," Ipsa remarked.

Yonatan Temesgen and Salim Terlinden, both in 7J, noted the impressive performances of all participants, who adapted to new topics almost instantaneously, presenting their perspectives wonderfully and debating with great enthusiasm. Each round was marked by thoughtful arguments, quick thinking, and a vibrant display of debating skills, making the event both dynamic and engaging. The hard work and dedication of everyone involved paid off, culminating in an exciting and competitive debate.

Throughout the event, students showcased their talents and teamwork. From Ndovu emerging victorious in Round 1 to Twiga's success in Round 2 and Ndovu clinching another win in Round 3, the competition was fierce. Most Valuable Speakers were recognized for their outstanding contributions, highlighting the individual brilliance within the teams. The judges provided insightful feedback, and the chairs and timekeepers ensured the smooth running of the debates.

Overall, the inter-house debate was a rewarding experience that highlighted the value of hard work, preparation, and the power of words in shaping ideas and opinions.
