Braeburn School wins ‘Best Learning Institution’ for Drama at the Kenya Theatre Awards!
All the world’s a stage.
On Thursday 29th the Braeburn Drama Departments for Primary and Secondary attended the 3rd Annual Kenya Theatre Awards at Safari Park Hotel. As a school they had received nominations for Best Choreography, Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Best Learning Institution.
They were honoured to be nominated alongside professional theatre companies, actors and choreographers. Even more so to be presented with the award for ‘Best Learning Institution’. This was awarded to the school for their contribution to theatre over the last year in regards to the Sixth Form production of Orwell’s 1984, the Primary musical The Greatest Show and the Secondary musical In The Heights!
Present to receive the award were Alice Coleman (Head of Drama/Sixth Form), Pierce Williams (Head of Drama Primary), Maribel Larson (Primary Choreographer), Daniel Hird (Director of 1984) and Jazz Moll (Head of Theatre Services). Also in the crowd were some of the talented drama students and nominees Amie Katta (nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Musical), Harlene Singh (Best Supporting Actor) and Milla Ternois (lead in In The Heights!).
The Drama Department is extremely proud of all the talented performers that have dedicated themselves to theatre and as such got us to this level of recognition. Our Braeburn drama students task themselves with creating beautiful art and they always succeed.
