Braeburn At The East African Junior Speakers Festival 2025

7th June 2025

We are incredibly proud to share the achievements of our talented junior speakers who represented Braeburn School at the prestigious East African Junior Speakers Festival 2025, held at Strathmore University on Saturday, 7th and Sunday, 8th June. This high-level regional event brought together students from across East Africa to compete in public speaking and debate. It was a celebration of oracy, critical thinking, and teamwork – and our pupils shone brightly throughout!

Our delegation of seven Year 8 pupils – Zohid, Prajeet, Robert, Jood, Ryan, Aarav, and Dhairya – performed with outstanding skill and poise. In the Public Speaking category, Robert was named the Best Speaker overall, while Jood ranked an impressive 9th. Both reached the finals, placing 4th and 6th respectively. In Debate, Zohid, Prajeet, Ryan, Dhairya, and Aarav all ranked within the top 60 out of 188 speakers, with Zohid placing 14th overall. Braeburn's two debate teams won both the Gold Cup and Silver Cup Finals, demonstrating the strength, clarity, and composure of our young debaters.

Beyond the accolades, our pupils conducted themselves with maturity, discipline, and enthusiasm. They embraced the learning opportunities, connected with peers from other schools, and gained invaluable insights from seasoned coaches.

Congratulations to our young speakers – you’ve made us all very proud!
