Braeburn at the MSMUN Conference in Gigiri

31st January 2023

From January 31st to February 3rd, Braeburn pupils joined over 1000 of their peers from schools in East Africa, Nigeria and Zambia at the 29th Annual MSMUN conference at UNON - Gigiri. The delegation was made up of six pupils from Year 7, nine from Year 8 and five from Year 9. Braeburn’s delegation represented Mozambique, Nigeria, Kuwait and Iceland.

Over the four days, our pupils displayed impeccable confidence, contributed to the debates with conviction and authority, in addition to displaying behaviour of the highest standards. In the course of the debate they were able to apply the necessary networking skills during the lobbying sessions hence putting up a spirited fight. Sofia Farrukh (8B) and Alexandra Tovey (8K), Faith Muchabaiwa (8B) and Tamanda Kanyimbo (8J) bravely argued out their resolutions with Sofia managing to get her resolution passed with overwhelming support by the Ecology committee.

Our students were also able to successfully compete for and scoop two press corps positions: Stella Ng'ang'a (8B) and Imtiaz Lorenz. Ethen Charles (8B) and Kavan Kislaya (7S) also scooped two secretary positions, with Ethen winning the best secretary award at the end of the conference. Dhara Shah (8S) came agonisingly close to securing the Junior Chair position.

Well done to all our delegates and student officers, with special mention going to the advisors: Ms Njoroge, Ms Waitumbi, Mr. Makanda and Mr. Kisongoche for coaching the Braeburn delegation.
