Braeburn at The Young Musician of the Year Competition

On Sunday 5th of March, Aoba of Year 7 took part in the finals of the Young Musician of the Year competition, playing the violin.
Competitors were asked to perform two pieces of contrasting styles from the classical/jazz/contemporary classical repertoire of their instrument. Aoba performed 'Moonlight Rose', by N. Ikeda and 'A Dragon Flies', by S. Montague.
Performances were judged by a panel of adjudicators and marks were awarded for technical control, musical interpretation, style, stage and presentation. She grew quickly in confidence as she played her pieces, but the competitive standard was extremely high and she finished out of the top 3 places on this occasion despite her superb performances. Aoba performed beautifully, and as always we are very proud of her.
