14th June 2025
Braeburn's U11 rugby squad put on a thrilling display of skill, determination, and teamwork at the Ngini 7s Rugby Tournament, hosted by St. Christopher’s School on June 14th. The boys topped their pool with an unbeaten run in the group stages, starting strong with a commanding 20-0 victory against Brookhouse Karen. They continued their momentum with a 12-0 win over the French School, a 8-0 triumph against Peponi, and a convincing 16-0 scoreline against Aga Khan.
In the quarterfinals, Braeburn faced Kenton and dominated with a resounding 20-5 win. The semi-final clash against The Banda proved to be the toughest match yet — fast-paced, physical, and nerve-racking. Our boys showed immense grit and edged out a 15-10 victory to secure a spot in the final.
The final against Hillcrest was a nail-biting affair. Despite missing a key player due to injury and fielding a tired squad, the team fought valiantly in a closely contested battle. In the end, Braeburn fell just short with a 5-10 loss, earning a well-deserved second place overall. The boys showed incredible heart, spirit, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. We now look ahead with pride and excitement to the Ndume 7s on June 20th.
