21st February 2023
On Tuesday, 21st February, Braeburn joined the with other schools across the world to celebrate the International Mother Language Day. This year’s theme was ‘Multilingual education - a necessity to transform education’. Within the school, over 50 languages are spoken by our diverse student and staff body, making this day especially relevant to us. We celebrated our Mother Languages throughout the week by sharing and speaking the different languages spoken throughout the school.
Our main activity was to learn and use different greetings in different languages. We also enjoyed the ‘Adopt a language every day’ challenge where everyone was encouraged to learn a few words in a different language, everyday. The school kitchen was exceptional as they prepared a themed menu for the whole week, enabling us to savour cuisine from different parts of the world.
The students also participated in a competition of designing a poster to show the diversity in languages in Braeburn School. Dhara emerged the overall winner, while the runners-up were Trixyna and Rashid.
