On Friday, June 7th, Braeburn School's lower primary students celebrated World Environment Day with a host of exciting and educational activities. Each class was guided by one or two enthusiastic eco-leaders from Year 7, who had the creative freedom to choose from a variety of suggested activities. The event was a huge success, bringing joy, laughter, and important environmental lessons to our students.

In Foundation Stage (FS), the children enjoyed a lively game of Duck Duck Goose, a timeless favourite that had everyone giggling and running around. Eco-leaders Aila (FS1) and Alayna (FS2) did a fantastic job leading the fun.

For Year 1 and Year 2, eco-leaders Aura and Valentine organised musical statues with a twist – the music was all about the environment! The children also got creative with leaf painting, making beautiful prints that brought nature into their artwork.

Year 3 and Year 4 students had an adventurous time with littering hopscotch and a thrilling scavenger hunt. Younis and Tassyane ensured the activities were both challenging and enjoyable, teaching our young environmentalists about the importance of keeping our environment clean while having fun.

Throughout the day, our dedicated runners Rameen, Ayii, Eli, Aisha, Ryan, and Lulu kept the activities running smoothly, while photographers Aryanna, Stacy, Rosella, Karim, and Prajeet captured the magic moments. Yonatan, Salim, Maya, and Ela helped put together this newsletter article, making sure the event's success was shared with all.

The event was filled with memorable quotes from our enthusiastic participants:

"This is so fun!" - Elim (Year 3), summing up the general feeling of the day.

"I made so many new friends." - Rameen (Year 7), highlighting the social benefits of the event.

"My favourite activity was leaf painting." - Parek (Year 4), enjoying the creative side of the day.

"I had more fun than I would with MY class." - Eli (Year 7), showing the positive impact of mixed-group activities.

"Teaching isn’t easy. I have a newfound respect for teachers." - Ushoshee (Year 7), after having a taste of what it is like to be a teacher for a day.

Overall, Braeburn's World Environment Day was a fantastic celebration, filled with fun, learning, and a deeper appreciation for our planet. We look forward to more events like this, where education and enjoyment go hand in hand.
