🧮 Braeburn School Shines at Junior Mathematics Challenge

22nd November 2025

The Junior Mathematics Challenge held at Nairobi Academy on 15 November 2025 was an exciting and memorable event for our young mathematicians. Representing Braeburn High School were four enthusiastic students two from Year 9 and two from Year 10. Their passion, teamwork and problem solving spirit made the day both successful and inspiring.

The competition featured two lively categories: the group challenge and the individual challenge. In the group category our brilliant team worked together with confidence, creativity and strong mathematical reasoning. Their teamwork paid off as our School Gitanga proudly secured second place out of twenty participating schools. This achievement reflects not only their skill but also their ability to collaborate under pressure while enjoying the thrill of mathematical problem solving.

The individual category brought even more exciting news. Prajeet Ghose from Year 9 delivered an exceptional performance earning the title of the best Year 9 student in the entire challenge. His dedication, sharp thinking and calm approach to challenging questions truly stood out and brought great pride to the school.

Thanks to these remarkable achievements Braeburn School was ranked the second best overall school in the event. This is a wonderful reflection of our students' hard work and enthusiasm as well as the continued strength of our Mathematics department.

To celebrate the joy of Mathematics here are some fun facts to brighten your day

  1. The year 2025 is special because if you add its digits two plus zero plus two plus five you get nine which is the same number of months left before the next academic year begins.
  2. A circle has the smallest perimeter for a given area making it one of nature's most efficient shapes.
  3. There are more possible games of chess than there are atoms in the observable universe, a reminder of how quickly combinations explode in Mathematics.

We congratulate our outstanding students for their impressive results and thank Nairobi Academy for hosting such a wonderful event. We look forward to even greater mathematical adventures in the future.
