26th February 2024
On 17th and 18th February, 23 determined and energetic Braeburn scholars took part in the World Scholars’ Cup Regional Round at Light Academy. This was not an ordinary event. It was intense, engaging, and stressful, but fun! The tournament brought together teams of learners from regions within and outside Kenya to compete in a wide range of scholarly activities including written tests, debates, scholars’ bowl, and collaborative writing. Instead of competing alone, students team up and help each other out. During the tournament, teams write, solve problems, and respond to questions together, about literally anything - science, history, art, media, literature, technology and much more. The secret to success is knowing as much as you can about the world around you.
Judging by the performance this time around, Braeburn students are admittedly getting good at it, thanks to Mrs Muthama and the WSC team for excellent coaching. Altogether, the school scooped 4 trophies and 70 medals. Sofia Rarrukh, Noni Njuguna and Stella Ng’a’nga’s team proudly took the BEST TEAM in the senior division, and countless awards. Congratulations to our stars, and all other teams!
The tournament is also a rare opportunity to learn from each other and make friends with students from all over the world. It is certainly an event not to be missed!
Congratulations to this year's WSC team who are already looking forward to the global round, happening later in the year!
