Braeburn Scouts Reach Major Tree-Planting Milestone

19th June 2026

On Friday, 19th June, a delegation of eight Braeburn Scouts visited Rowallan Camp to continue a conservation project that began back in November 2012. What started with the planting of just 25 saplings has grown into a remarkable 14-year commitment to environmental stewardship, interrupted only during the COVID-19 pandemic. During their visit, the scouts had the opportunity to revisit the original planting site and were delighted to see many of the trees thriving, providing a visible reminder of the long-term impact of their efforts.

Inspired by the success of the original canopy, the scouts planted a new generation of trees to further enrich the local ecosystem. This latest planting session brought Braeburn's cumulative contribution to an impressive 2,005 trees across Rowallan Camp and Karura Forest, marking a significant milestone in the school's ongoing reforestation journey. The experience reinforced the importance of protecting Nairobi's green spaces at a time when rapid urbanisation continues to place increasing pressure on the natural environment.

Following their conservation work, the scouts visited the Kenya Scouts Association Headquarters and the World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre, where they learned more about the global impact of scouting initiatives. Braeburn Scouts remain committed to cultivating hope for future generations, and we extend our sincere thanks to the parents whose continued support has made this long-running initiative possible.
