14th February 2026
Dates: Monday 2nd to Friday 6th March at
Venue: Braeburn Senior School
Theme: "Reading for Fun!"
This week celebrates the pure joy of reading and invites our entire school community to dive into stories, discover new worlds, and share the magic of books together.
Throughout the week, students will enjoy a vibrant programme of activities designed to spark imagination and nurture a lifelong love of reading:
● Monday: Teachers share their personal reading posters, inspiring students with what adults enjoy reading.
● Tuesday: Focus on Swahili and other language books, plus spoken word performances and the launch of our Reading Tree.
● Wednesday: Interhouse Reading Quiz during form time (with A Level students participating in PSHE sessions).
● Thursday: Visiting authors share their experiences, mini-writers workshops, student writing reviews for the competition, and a Dress-up day (bring your favourite book character to life!), author sessions on "What it means to be an author/writer", and more Reading Tree fun.
● Friday: Final celebrations with the Reading Tree fully in place.
Additional highlights include:
● On-site book vendors offering a wide selection of novels, activity books, and more.
● A fun photo booth experience for memorable family-style shots.
● Engaging activities throughout the week that celebrate reading in creative ways.
We also have exciting competitions running, including a writing competition and Spelling Bee house scores to keep the energy high!
Book Week is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore books beyond the curriculum, connect with authors, and build confidence in their own creativity. We encourage parents to chat with your child about their favourite reads, share what you're enjoying, or even join in the fun by sending in a photo of your current book.
Join us for this joyful celebration of literacy. For more details or to get involved, please contact the English department.
We look forward to seeing your children immersed in the wonder of reading!
Warm regards,
Judy & the English Department Team
