Braeburn Swimmers Step Up on the International Stage

13th May 2025

The Braeburn swimming team had the incredible opportunity to compete in their first ever international competition—the World School Games Swimming Championships, held at the world-renowned London Aquatics Centre in Stratford, UK, the iconic venue of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Fourteen swimmers proudly represented the school, travelling to London on Thursday, 8th May 2025. The event featured both long course (50m) and short course (25m) races, with heats in the morning and finals in the afternoon—mirroring a professional swim meet format.

For many, this marked their debut at international level, and they rose to the challenge with confidence and determination. Several swimmers achieved personal bests (PBs), reflecting their growth and commitment.

A special mention goes to our finalists:

  • Sienna – 50m Freestyle
  • Felix – 50m & 100m Freestyle
  • Noah – 50m Breaststroke
  • Mariel – 50m Butterfly
  • Swabri – 50m Breaststroke

Reaching the finals at such a competitive global event is an outstanding accomplishment, highlighting the dedication of our swimmers and their coaches.

Beyond the results, the experience offered valuable lessons and motivation. Competing alongside schools from around the world gave our team a deeper understanding of international standards—and the mindset needed to thrive under pressure.

Well done to other team members Hannah, Yula, Serene, Saoirse, Nia, Caitlin, Kai, Esther and Kireth.

We’re proud of every swimmer who took part in this milestone event. They return not just with results, but with renewed ambition and a drive to keep reaching new heights.
