Braeburn’s First Ever Year 2 Camp: A Night of Fun and Adventure!

14th June 2024

Braeburn's first-ever Year 2 camp began with palpable excitement as 60 eager pupils gathered in the KS1 adventure playground. Starting right after school at 3:45pm, the children enjoyed refreshing juice and scrumptious doughnuts, setting a delightful tone for the evening ahead. With their energy levels high, they engaged in playtime while the final touches were being made to the tent setup. The field was alive with laughter and joy as groups of three and four friends prepared to check into their tents, eager for the adventures to come.

Once settled, the children participated in a variety of well-planned rotational activities. The camp buzzed with excitement as they bounced on the bouncy castle, played football, engaged in team-building exercises, danced, and played board games. Despite the concurrent Year 13 graduation nearby, the sounds of fun and laughter dominated the atmosphere. Dinner at 6:45pm was a hearty affair, fueling the children for more evening activities. As night fell, everyone gathered around the bonfire, roasting marshmallows and singing songs, creating a communal and magical experience that will be remembered for years to come.

As the night wound down at 8:45pm, the children changed into their pyjamas and settled into their sleeping bags, with lights out by 9:00pm. Surprisingly, most slept soundly through the night. The following morning, they were up early at 6:15 am, packing and enjoying a hearty breakfast. Eager parents began arriving at 7:15am to hear all about their adventures, and by 8:30am, all pupils had been picked up. The camp's success was due to the hard work of the Year 2 teachers, Mr. Joshi, Nurse Tabitha, and Mrs. Mihajlovic. This inaugural Year 2 camp was a joyous occasion, creating cherished memories for both pupils and teachers.
