BTEC Business Coop visit

31st January 2026

This Monday, the Year 12 and 13 BTEC Business class had the wonderful opportunity to visit Cooperative Bank Karen for an educational trip. The visit was both insightful and enjoyable, giving us a real-life glance into how the bank operates and different factors that affect it. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed with breakfast ,later in the day we were also provided with lunch, and a cake baked in our honour. This goes to show the hospitality we were welcomed with.

During the visit, we had three main speakers who focused on speaking about the different aspects of the bank.all three speakers were very interactive. The first speaker gave us an introduction about the bank and its history. Then proceeded to discuss the mission, vision, and values etc.. of the Cooperative Bank, explaining how these guide the way the organisation runs and makes decisions.

The second speaker focused on the statistics of the bank and their future. He explained the external factors which affect the bank, PESTLE,as well as the countries they would like to build branches in and why. He talked about these factors while using real world examples, making it more interesting and easier for us to understand.

The third speaker spoke about choosing career paths, discussing how factors such as personality, interests, and individual strengths can influence career decisions. She discussed different characteristics and which colors they were associated with. This session was particularly interesting as it encouraged us to think more deeply about our own futures and what careers might suit us best and what kind of people we are. We took part in a competitive game, which allowed some of us to realize how competitive we were.

Overall, the visit to Cooperative Bank Karen was an amazing opportunity that we are grateful to have. Not only did it expand our knowledge on the bank but really helped us understand that the things we do in the classroom are applicable to the outside world. The trip was both educational and inspiring, and will definitely be remembered. We would like to thank everyone who made this trip possible and everyone that came.
