🎹 BTEC Music Concert

On 13th March 2026, the 6th form complex played host to the Music department, as we hosted the BTEC Music Concert, the first of its kind, from 3.45pm-4.45pm. The showcase provided an opportunity for our BTEC Music L2 and L3 students to put on a performance, which is a requirement for the units they were covering this term.
The L3 students, formerly Orange-Tri, and now wanting to rebrand themselves as Summer Season - Chengzi Ouyang and Tereza Murachia - prepared a set of 6 songs, including Stand By Me (Bill E King), a Reggae Medley of One Love and 3 Little Birds (Bob Marley), Hall of Fame (The Script), Count on Me (Bruno Mars), Africa (Toto) and Stronger than Your Hate by one of the members of the class - Tereza Murachia. Putting on such a diverse programme required dedicated individual practice as well as group rehearsals, reflection and tracking of milestones achieved.
The L2 students going by the band name Yours Truly - Amanda Ashwin, Flora Damian, Fiona Liu, Hayley-Nadine Meho and Natalie Law - curated a pop & rock playlist comprising of songs like Archie Marry Me (Alvvays), Sofia (Clairo), Dirty Little Secret (All American Rejects) and Girl Next Door (Copperpot). Their performances were a testament to the hard work and dedication they put in in rehearsals and preparations for the concert.
The Year 9s were well represented by Zohid Muhammed, Prajeet Ghose and Ela Austrian, who along with Amanda and Flora, presented a beautiful rendition of Olivia Rodrigo’s Traitor. The concert also featured the BGR staff choir, who sang a harmonious rendition of Them Mushroom’s Jambo Bwana.
The concert’s success can be attributed to lots of team work, support from various stakeholders and dedication from the performers. I wish to offer my thanks to the school leadership, student performers, teachers, the grounds staff under Philip Munywoki and James Wambua, the sanitation team led by Loice Ako, the catering team lead by Jakki Kinyanjui and the administration for the support in their various capacities.
