In our Art Department, we believe that every great artist begins with mastering the basics and our students are rising to the challenge with inspiring commitment.
This term, our classes have been focusing on fundamental exercises exploring basic shapes and the study of light and shadow. These skills form the backbone of artistic practice, helping students understand how to bring visual elements into their work.
Captured in the photo above, one of our talented Year 9.5 students, Natalie Law, is working diligently on her shading techniques, creating smooth tonal gradients and carefully observing how light falls on 3D Objects. It is a perfect snapshot of the dedication, focus, and curiosity we see daily in our art studio.
Natalie’s effort is just one example among many. Across all our classes, students are embracing new techniques, experimenting fearlessly, and supporting one another in their creative journeys. It’s a joy to witness their growth, and we’re proud of the vibrant, collaborative atmosphere that continues to flourish in our department.
As we move forward, we’re excited to see how these strong foundations will empower our young artists to express themselves with even greater confidence and originality.
