Celebrating Literacy Week: A Call for Writers

20th September 2025

As we look back at Literacy Week, we want to celebrate the power of words — their ability to inform, inspire, heal, and connect.

Literacy is more than just reading and writing; it is the foundation of learning, creativity, and expression.

In that spirit, we are thrilled to announce the start of a very exciting project: our very own anthology. This collection will feature original works from our own— essays, short stories, and poems that capture voices, ideas, and experiences worth sharing.

If you love to write, this is your opportunity to see your work published alongside fellow writers. Whether you are a seasoned storyteller or just beginning to experiment with words, we welcome you to contribute.

What we’re looking for:

Essays that spark thought and conversation

Short stories that transport readers into new worlds

Poems that move, delight, or challenge us

This anthology will be a celebration of the creativity within our community and a way to leave a legacy of voices that matter.

How to participate.

Please email your best work to cynthia.abdallah@braeburn.ac.ke

You can also pass by M12 every Tuesday and create wonders with words.

Submission deadline: November 1st

Publication date: January 30.

We can’t wait to read your words and watch this anthology take shape, together.
