Eco-Tourism with Year 6

1st June 2021

The Year 6 tourism curriculum day was themed around eco-tourism. They deepened their understanding that ecotourism is a responsible form of tourism, which is an alternative to large commercial tour groups, involving low-impact visits to places such as undisturbed ecological areas. Ecotourism can help raise awareness about ecologically sensitive areas, threatened or endangered species of wildlife, and help empower local communities.

Some of the activities undertaken by the pupils to solidify their understanding of this growing element of tourism included making a making a model of an ecolodge, which they applied impressive creativity and eco-understanding to. The knowledge attained will not only be limited to tourism in Kenya but also when they explore other travel destinations internationally.
