On Wednesday, Braeburn celebrated its first ever Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) -Key Stage 1 World Maths Day. This was an opportunity for the pupils to prime their brain and flex their fingers in order to take part in fun packed activities prepared by their teachers to enjoy and develop their knowledge and understanding of maths.
The event was highly successful, with Key Stage 1 focusing on key areas of maths namely: volume and capacity, handling data, place value, position and direction, addition and subtraction, as well as shape and time, whilst EYFS investigated the discoveries of the greatest minds in ancient history such as: Archimedes, Rene Descartes, Theodosius of Bithynia, Ada Lovelace, Brahmagupta and Leonardo Fibonacci. Children also experimented with shapes from traditional Chinese puzzles.
It was an excellent day packed with activities that brought maths alive. A big thank you to the EYFS and Key Stage 1 teams for organising such an enriching day for the children.
