From Delegates to Changemakers: Braeburn at MS-ECAMUN

5th February 2026

By Shreya & Eva (Year 8)

Braeburn students from Years 7 to 9 set off for the incredible KICC full of excitement for the start of the conference. We gathered in the vast dome-shaped amphitheatre for the opening General Assembly, where magical musical performances and uplifting speeches set an inspiring tone. After navigating the busy corridors to find our committee rooms, we took part in an icebreaker called “Compliments,” which helped ease our nerves. Although we were initially anxious, we quickly began debating our first resolutions and exploring global issues, and before we knew it, the first day had flown by.

By Day Two, we returned with greater confidence and curiosity, already having formed new friendships. The General Assembly felt more familiar, and students eagerly made their way back to committee rooms ready to debate new resolutions. Discussions grew more engaging and dynamic as delegates shared perspectives and challenged one another respectfully. Breaks filled with icebreakers like “Confessions” and light-hearted conversations helped strengthen bonds, creating a balance between serious debate and memorable moments of connection.

As the final days arrived, we walked into the General Assembly with pride and determination. Powerful speeches, including “The Art of Being Chalant” and one on feminism, inspired courage and action, while a guest speaker shared her journey of creating change within her Maasai community. Dressed in cultural attire on the last day, delegates celebrated how far they had come, debating final resolutions and a crisis scenario before gathering for the closing ceremony. As awards were presented and the words “This debate is now adjourned” echoed through the amphitheatre, we left MS-ECAMUN inspired to think bigger, speak boldly, and become part of the solutions our world needs.
