Year 4 pupils have been exploring the fascinating history of the East African Railway as part of their Topic studies. They learned about who built the railway, its importance in facilitating trade and movement across East Africa during the late 1800s and early 1900s, and the lasting impact it continues to have on the region today. Through their studies, pupils developed an understanding of how the railway helped shape communities, connect distant areas, and contribute to economic growth.
To bring their learning to life, the pupils were challenged to research different types of trains and create their own model trains using recycled materials. The results were truly impressive, showcasing a wonderful blend of creativity, research, and engineering skills. From historic steam locomotives and powerful cargo trains to sleek modern bullet trains, the variety of models reflected the pupils' enthusiasm and imagination. The project not only deepened their understanding of rail transport but also encouraged environmental awareness through the innovative use of recycled materials. Well done to all of Year 4 for their outstanding efforts and fantastic creations!
