18th June 2023
This year’s Ndume 7s, which took place at Pembroke School on Saturday 17th June, was going to be an uphill task for the Under 13 1st rugby boys' team, who had experienced a challenging season. However, they were determined to give it their best shot, enthusiastically showing up for daily early morning training sessions aimed at getting the team in tip top shape.
On the day, Braeburn was pooled against Pembroke, St. Andrew's, Peponi and Braeburn Garden Estate; formidable teams. Even though group stages matches did not go Braeburn’s way, the boys kept giving it their all, showing great sportsmanship and the will to keep going. That attitude paid off when they played the 5th place team in group B, which was Hillcrest. Our Under 13s continued to dig deep, fighting through fatigue and disappointment, to give a really good performance and get a deserving 14-7 win against Hillcrest.
Special mention goes to Trey Garner and Magnus Mohiddin-Jones who were selected to represent the Nairobi West team (comprising Braeburn, Banda, Brookhouse and Hillcrest). Both Trey and Magnus displayed brilliant performances for the Nairobi West team in their games played the day after Ndume.
