20th May 2023
The Braeburn Under 13 Boys 1st team took part in the Hillcrest Rugby Tournament on Saturday 20th May, having had a good preparation match against St. Andrews's on Friday evening. Our first match of the tournament was against The Banda, with an encouraging start from Braeburn. St. Andrews's was our second match, where the boys put up a spirited fight and improved on their performance from the Friday evening before.
Peponi was our third match, and the boys were determined to get a win. We played some fantastic rugby, passing the ball out wide, while also making some crucial tackles against some of their best players. Our last match was against Brookhouse, and at this point exhaustion had caught up with many of our players. Despite this, the boys proved mentally strong, playing to the last whistle and never giving up.
It was a great performance from all the boys, with a special mention to Emmanuel Ogeto in Year 7 for his bravery in tackling. Now our focus shifts to getting the team’s physical fitness up to par, if not better, than some of the teams we met at Hillcrest, and to The Ndume 7s which will be held on the 17th of June at Pembroke School.
