Horse Riders Retain the Hillcrest Gymkhana Cup!

18th June 2023

A 'phenomenal' fourteen students from the Braeburn Equestrian Club represented the school at the Hillcrest Inter-Schools' Riding Competition 2023, which was hosted on Sunday 18th June. The day began with great excitement just before 8.00am, and finished at 4.30pm with a wonderful presentation of many rosettes and the Gymkhana Cup coming back to us again this year thanks to the formidable team consisting of: O'Maira Rane, Minori Kimeu, Berenice Praud, Ayii Deng, Danika Vadgama, Yuval Kadosh, Caitlin Oyaro and Imara Welch.

Special mention goes to Caitlin Oyaro who managed to have two clear rounds at Grass Roots Jumping 40 to 50, and to Hannah Lane, Leah Lane and Ipsa Bedi for winning the dressing up contest as a European Cinderella, a KSPCA Rep and an Elf off the Shelf. All of the children were great advocates for team work, friendship and great tenacity. We could not be more proud of all the effort they put into preparing for the competition, as well as their achievement on the day.

Once again, we thank the parents for all of their fantastic support, Arnest and Francis and the team of sykes and horses at New Muthaiga Stables, Miss Susan Thuo and Miss Yvonne Modowo for being amazing assistants, and finally Hillcrest for putting on the magnificent event.
