Braeburn School had a thrilling literary start to Term 3 when every primary pupil from FS1 to Year 8 took part in the Braeburn Group Big Write. The goal of this programme, also referred to as Big Write or Big Writing, is to improve pupils' overall writing proficiency. We aim to develop self-sufficient and skilled writers by prioritising basic English abilities like grammar, handwriting, spelling and punctuation, in addition to essential elements of high-quality writing such as vocabulary and the use of figurative language.
Pupils from FS1 to Year 8 explored the genre of adventure narratives for this year's Big Write, where they used their imagination and creativity as a guide into a magical school bus adventure. Following that, our pupils’ outstanding works of writing will be presented to the English department heads of the other Braeburn schools that are taking part, encouraging cooperation and a celebration of literary accomplishments among all of the Braeburn schools.
