Kenton Cross Country Warm UP

30th April 2022

On the day the Kenton cross-country warm-up was to start, the rains decided beforehand to make this race's terrain a beautiful, but muddy track. Fortunately, the weather calmed down and at 2pm the sun came, out saving the cancellation of the event (should there have been a thunderstorm with attendant lightning, etc). The cross country event lived up to be as exciting as it always promises to be and the Braeburn teams were a force to be reckoned with.

Our U9 girls team were first on the course, and presented an outstanding performance, with Lahnee Garner, coming in 2nd place, with the rest of the other girls finishing in the top 20 positions, to finish 1st overall. The U9 boys, U11 girls and the U13 boys, all gave sterling performances despite the muddy terrain, with most athletes finishing in the top 20 slots in their race categories. Lara Bailey, gave an amazing performance in the U13 girls race to finish in first position, with a commanding lead that was consistent from the start to the finish.

This warmup is a fantastic opportunity for our runners to test their endurance, and we believe that they will continue to improve in their subsequent races, both in Nanyuki, and at Turi in the next couple of weeks. Go Team Braeburn!
