Kenya U19 cricket in Uganda by Stian Smith

Day 1: Arrival and training

Day 2: Match Vs Uganda

It didn't go too well with my batting but I capitalised with my bowling taking 3 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs. (3/9 in 4)

Day 3: Rest

Day 4: Match Vs Rwanda

We bowled first and I bowled 9.5 overs taking 2 wickets for only 15 runs (2/15 in 9.5) restricting Rwanda for a low total of 126. I batted really well and scored the winning runs ending up with 46 not winning my first man of the match award for the tournament.

Day 5: Match Vs Uganda

We bowled first again and I bowled 9 overs taking 2 wickets for 20 runs bowling Uganda all out for 204 runs. It was a tough challenge but I fought hard and I scored 79 runs to seal the victory for Kenya winning my second man of the match award.

Day 6: Rest

Day 7: Match Vs Rwanda

We batted first this time and I scored 63 runs putting a good total on the board and we managed to defend it with my bowling; I bowled 8.1 overs taking 2 wickets for only 23 runs sealing my third consecutive man of the match award in a row.

Day 8: Final against Uganda

Unfortunately I was really sore with muscle injuries and little nibbles and I didn't feel like playing but I still tried my best bowling 3.3 overs taking 2 wickets for only 9 runs. We needed 123 runs to win but our team collapsed under pressure and I only scored 15 runs making our team fall 40 odd runs short of winning.

I did, however, still manage to get ‘Player of the Tournament' due to being the 2nd best batsman, 2nd best bowler and 2nd best fielder where other individuals beat me but I was overall the better performer in all aspects.
