LANGUAGES ON STAGE!

31st January 2026

The MFL Department, in partnership with Drama, BTEC Food and Music, is delighted to announce a special end-of-year evening event celebrating the rich diversity of languages spoken across our school community.

While languages are already highlighted during Culture Day, this event offers a second opportunity to place languages firmly in the spotlight — exploring them in creative, expressive and meaningful ways from all corners of the world.

📅 Date: Monday 6 May
🕕 Time: Evening event 6-8pm

📍 Venue: Braeburn Theatre

We warmly invite students, parents, family members and staff to take part by showcasing a language they speak - or even one they simply feel passionate about. Contributions can take many forms, including (but not limited to):

● Spoken words or poetry

● Singing or reading song lyrics

● Storytelling

● Comedy, sketches or short performances

Creativity is strongly encouraged, and the format is intentionally open to allow participants to express themselves in a way that feels authentic and exciting.

In preparation, during term 2, we will hold rehearsals and produce a program booklet containing English translations, enabling the audience to fully engage with and appreciate every performance.

🎶 Music and culture are inseparable, so we also welcome instrumental or musical performances connected to a language or culture — lyrics are not required.

🍴 At the end of the performances, our BTEC Food students will host an international food showcase, offering a variety of dishes from around the world at affordable prices. This will contribute to their coursework, with all proceeds supporting our chosen NGO, KCOOP.

🌍 About KCOOP
KCOOP is an NGO based in Kibera, working to empower women through education and provide children with a safe environment to learn, eat and thrive. Our school already works closely with KCOOP, and our community service team is currently developing projects including school visits, football tournaments, art workshops and further educational initiatives.

🎟️ This will be a ticketed event — please refer to the attached poster for details. All funds raised will go directly towards supporting KCOOP with essential resources, food and materials.

Everyone is welcome to take part — students, parents, grandparents, extended family members and staff. This is an opportunity to celebrate identity, heritage and belonging. Languages connect us, shape who we are and deserve to be celebrated.

We look forward to showcasing the incredible diversity of our community and hope you will join us for what promises to be a truly memorable evening.
