MFL Inter-School Verse Speaking Competition

I am thrilled to share the outstanding achievements of our students in the recent Modern Foreign Languages Inter-School Verse Competition held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Nairobi Academy. This event, marked by enthusiastic participation and exceptional talent, showcased the linguistic skills of our students in French, German, and Swahili.

Aims of the Competition:

- The competition aimed to promote the culture and academic development of French, German, and Swahili among participating schools, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for these languages.

- Poetry is a beautiful form of expression, and the competition sought to instil a love for this art form, encouraging students to find joy in the rhythmic beauty of language.

- The competition focused on encouraging the individual development of clear and audible language skills in French, German, and Swahili, refining the students' ability to articulate thoughts with precision and clarity.

- Providing a platform for friendly competition among secondary schools, the event encouraged collaboration in the pursuit of linguistic excellence.

Student Achievements:

I am proud to announce that six of our students secured top positions in their respective categories:

• German U16: Charlotta Connor (2nd Position)
• French U14 (French as a Native Speaker): Olivia May (2nd Position)
• Swahili U14: Debora Odongo (2nd Position and Adjudicator's Award)
• French U14 (French as a Foreign Language): Dhara Shah (3rd Position)
• French U18 (French as a Foreign Language): Milembe Mulla (3rd Position)
• French U18 (French as a Native Speaker): Milla Ternois (3rd Position)

A special congratulations to Debora Odongo for impressing the judges and receiving the Adjudicator's Award for Swahili.

Their hard work, dedication and achievements are a testament to the talent and commitment within our Modern Foreign Languages department.
