12th November 2023
My Remembrance Day trip, which took place on Sunday 12th November, was amazing! I loved the experience of laying wreaths where the fallen soldiers lay. You might ask, what is Remembrance Day all about? Back in 1919 just after World War 1, it was called Armistice Day and it was declared on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11am. Normally at 11 am, there is a 2 minute silence and everyone is requested to take off their headwear as we pay tribute to the soldiers who died in both World Wars.
So why do we call it Remembrance Day when its real name is Armistice Day? Well after World War 2, it was decided to call it Remembrance Day so we can remember not only the soldiers that fought in World War 1, but also World War 2.
