On Thursday evening, parents of Sixth Form students gathered in the Braeburn School library for an inspiring workshop led by Mr. Nigel Wilson-Brown, founder of Mind Flex. He presented his Psychological Flexibility Programme, which focuses on building resilience and equipping young people with tools to effectively manage stress. The session was perfectly timed to take place before the Sixth Form Parent-Teacher Conference, ensuring parents left with practical strategies to support their children.
The session explored the rising pressures students face in today’s demanding academic and social landscape, emphasising resilience as a lifelong skill. He shared insights into how certain strategies help individuals adapt to challenges, balance emotional responses, and maintain focus on their goals.
A highlight of the workshop was the interactive segment where parents learned and practiced practical breathing techniques, including:
Nigel encouraged parents to practice these techniques regularly with their children, fostering a collaborative approach to stress management at home.
We thank Mr. Nigel Wilson-Brown and Mind Flex for this invaluable session and the parents who participated with enthusiasm. Together, we are building a community that prioritises well-being and resilience.
