The week started with the launch of our appeal for donations for those affected by the recent floods. Our assembly outlined the causes of the floods and described the various impacts they have had on local communities.

Parent workshop
Thank you to all those who attended this week's parent workshop on the trends in awareness and use of a range of substances, I hope you found it useful. For those who were unable to be there, here are the slides used. We value the partnership with our parents; please do get in touch if there are topics you would like to see covered in future sessions.
Mental Health Awareness Week
Next week we are marking Mental Health Awareness week with a range of activities. Each day will be themed around one of the five ways to well-being.
Monday - Connect: students will take part in an activity during form time to show how we are all connected together and that connections help us to feel a sense of belonging and have a support network around us when things are not going so well.
Tuesday - Take Notice: during form time students will have a chance to slow down with some mindfulness and meditation activities.
Wednesday - Keep Learning: students will have signed up to attend one of a range of different workshops to learn something new. Setting challenges and learning new things can improve your confidence and add fun to the day stimulating our brain and building self-esteem.
Thursday - Give: we have a non-uniform day for Wear it Green, a bake sale to continue to raise funds to support people affected by the floods, especially with their mental health. Students will also be asked to contribute to our silent kindness activity to appreciate and show gratitude for our peers (and teachers!)
Friday - Be Active: make sure you bring your games kit to take part in a whole school physical activity to get the heart pumping and release those lovely feel-good endorphins!
