Potion Explosions and Moving Machines!

1st October 2025

From 29th September to 1st October, our youngest pupils in Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 explored the world of science. The theme, Motion and Potions, brought learning to life through hands-on exploration and plenty of fun discoveries.

In the Potions activities, children became mini-scientists, mixing and experimenting to uncover surprising chemical reactions: from the stretchy magic of slime to the foamy eruption of elephant toothpaste.

The Motion activities saw our Year 1 and 2 pupils take on a real engineering challenge — building their very own catapults! With plenty of testing (and lots of flying projectiles), they discovered how forces can create movement and how small changes can make a big difference.

These Science Mornings were the perfect blend of wonder, creativity, and learning, giving our youngest pupils a taste of just how exciting the world of science can be.
