Pre-Writing in the Early Years

In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a lot of effort is made to develop our little ones’ fine and gross motor skills, and we do this through varied activities, some involving play, others in creating, and some in specific high-concentration activities. To this end, last week our pupils created different marks using their bodies as well as a variety of mark making tools such as sticks, paint brushes and pencils. The littles ones enjoyed making marks, many of them showing good pencil holding skills as they drew pictures of themselves and attempted to write different words in our ‘pre-writing’ lessons. Well done EYFS!
