Prize Giving

It is always a pleasure to celebrate the successes of our students academically, alongside their strong characters and contributions to activities outside the classroom. At the end of last term we did just that at our annual Prize-giving celebration. A chance to showcase some of the incredible dramatic and musical talents of our students, and learn from the experiences of current and former students. We had the pleasure of hearing from Mr Jason Ndirangu, a graduate of Braeburn in 2012 who has gone on to a successful career in finance and business; he spoke fondly of his experiences of learning at Braeburn and encouraged our students to make the most of all the opportunities that are on offer. Deputy head senator, Noora Bashaaib, spoke on behalf of our 2024 graduates to thank all the teachers, support staff and parents for their continued support in helping them achieve their goals and develop their values. We celebrated our students for their exceptional approach to learning alongside their academic successes in all their subjects. The special awards were presented as follows:

Supportive and helpful to others was awarded to Nemayian Marima and Tinashe Muchabaiwa for being especially helpful in welcoming new students.

Community service award went to Imani Okello for her dedication to supporting our community projects.

Key Stage 5 CAS Award was awarded to Tumaini Ireri for completing 390 hours of activities.

Sidika Mudasia Art award went to Milla Ternois for her contributions to artistic projects.

Contribution to Extracurricular Music was awarded to Dhara Shah for always being willing to perform at any event.

Contribution to Drama was awarded to Hidde Lohr and Harlene Singh for continually taking risks on stage.

Swimming award went to Risha De Guzman for his national honour representing The Philippines.

P.M. Barnard Shield: Best Sportsman and woman went to Hamet Barry and Marie-Ange Lokenga, who both received the award for the 2nd year in a row

Contribution to Extra Curricular activities for attending the most number of clubs and activities throughout the year, went to Wilson Mulwa and Megumi Hayashi

Award for Endeavour was given to Lucky Mabala who has shown great improvement and change in attitude towards his learning experience.

BTEC Endeavour Award was presented to Tumaini Ireri and Davies Waruru who both demonstrated persistent growth and independence, which has led to their great success in the BTEC programme.

Summum Appeto award went to Dhara Shah for showing commitment to Braeburn values.

D.J. Anderson Award for IGCSE performance in 2023 was awarded to Jasmine Parmena and Kalkidan Estifanos who both achieved 8A*s and 1A. These students have followed this success with some excellent AS results in 2024!

BTEC Achievement Award to Maryanne Mukubana for her excellent achievement of 2 Distinction *s in the BTEC Extended Diploma.

R. Williams Award for A-level performance in 2023 was presented to Amara Baker-Onyancha who achieved A* Geography, A* Sociology and A in Economics and has just completed her first year at St Andrew’s University in Scotland studying Geography.

Braeburn Trophy - best all round pupil in Year 11 went to Marie Wang’ombe for her full commitment to every aspect of school life. And for her many contributions and successes in and outside the classroom.

Executive Award went to Esther Nguyo for the greatest contribution to all-round excellence and for showing commitment to the Braeburn Circles in her academic endeavours alongside a rich and varied extracurricular programme.
