Rediscovering Historical Civilisations: Year 6 Aztec Day

The Year 6 pupils embarked on an immersive journey into the captivating world of the Aztec civilization on Thursday, February 22nd. The day unfolded with an impressive display of enthusiasm and creativity as the students arrived at school adorned in vibrant and meticulously crafted Aztec attire, showcasing a kaleidoscope of colours, intricate patterns, and geometric motifs.
Throughout the day, the pupils delved into various activities aimed at providing a glimpse into the daily life and traditions of the Aztecs. One highlight of the day was the creation of stunning mosaic artworks depicting the revered double-headed serpent, a significant symbol within Aztec culture. The pupils demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity in bringing this iconic emblem to life.
In addition to artistic endeavours, the students enthusiastically participated in the ancient Aztec game of Patolli, showcasing their strategic thinking and luck as they competed for coveted treasures. This interactive experience offered a hands-on exploration of Aztec leisure activities, fostering both enjoyment and learning.
As the day came to an end, the pupils immersed themselves in the rich musical heritage of the Aztec civilization, composing their own pieces inspired by traditional Aztec melodies and rhythms.
