Return of Fixtures

Excitement was in the air in anticipation of the return to fixtures after the long, dry spell of competitive sport. Year 6 and Year 8 A teams were the fortunate ones to take to the hockey pitches for the first time. The week started with Year 6, who played BGE away on Tuesday. Both games were a success, with skill and determination flowing. The girls fought hard, but BGE were too strong this time. The boys had a tough game, but edged a win showing some accomplished skill and grit. Wednesday saw the 1st teams take on their BGE counterparts. The girls were a little anxious and extremely excited to unleash their competitive spirit; once the game started, it was clear the competitiveness of these girls had been kept under wraps for a while! A great attacking game saw the girls win convincingly, demonstrating great sporting spirit. The boys had a slightly tougher game, yet they showed fantastic fighting power. They were tenacious in putting pressure on the opposition and made a great effort to come within a goal of BGE at full time. Some of the shots just didn't want to go in the back of the net, but give it time, these shots will be flying in!

All teams acted in the 'Braeburn way', both at home and away, showing respect and responsibility in the way they conducted themselves. Well done!

The return to fixtures has been one that has ignited the spark of excitement and competitiveness. Long may it continue!
