16th September 2023
On Monday 11th September the Sixth Form team gathered together to meet parents for the Sixth Form Orientation evening. Ms. Borwell opened the evening with a welcome address that highlighted Braeburn School’s values and our focus on our student’s well-being as a priority. This was echoed as parents were presented with the Sixth Form Handbook by
Ms. Coleman (Head of Sixth) which has a number of sections on coping strategies, wellness and managing stress through their academics. Other discussion items were the opportunities our Sixth Form have outside of academics such as enrichment, outreach and CAS (Creativity/Action/Service). Mr. Manning, our Careers Advisor for the Braeburn Group also came to discuss the first steps our Y12’s need to take in their journey to higher education.
Parents then had the opportunity to meet with the tutors and Senior Leadership to discuss any further questions they may have had over some refreshments. Thank you to every parent who attended the evening, we hope to welcome you through our doors again soon.
On Friday 15th September, the Sixth Form students attended the UK University Fair at Nairobi International School. This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to connect with representatives from top universities and learn more about the courses that they are interested in. Triscilla said “the morning was very informative because I didn’t know the next step to take but after talking to some of the advisors I discovered that there are multiple ways to approach my final decision.” By the end of the morning, lots of the students felt that they came away with a broader understanding of what universities had to offer, even if they weren’t entirely sure of their final destinations. All of our Sixth Form community represented Braeburn School with pride and myself and the team look forward to guiding them into the next steps of higher education.
