On Friday the Sixth Form community had a Wellness Day which focused on the concept of mindfulness. The day started calmly with some warm drinks and mindful colouring which everyone really enjoyed. We then moved onto the timetabled events. During their introduction to mindfulness they discussed different definitions and interpretations as a group and decided mindfulness was being aware of the present moment, whilst not getting caught up in the past or the future.
Y12 and Y13 took part in a number of activities that provided them with coping mechanisms for managing worry and stress as they embark on their A Level and BTEC pathways. These included a breathwork class, yoga and a careers workshop. At the end of the day we all took a trip to Ngong Forest for a 5K hike and a photo scavenger competition. Each of the groups took the competition very seriously and soon started collecting beautiful shots of the different criteria. The winning photographs will be framed and placed on their new common room walls as a reminder of a fantastic day!
