U17 Boys Football vs Hillcrest

This was a great show from the U17 football team today against Hillcrest.

In their first game of the season they really showed up. From defence to attack the team demonstrated great cohesion against a well -structured Hillcrest team. It was a thrilling game and the boys did just what it took to win the match 3-1.

It was a great performance from all but a special mention to Adama, Prince and our MVP Mitchell.

Well done boys!

U19 Cricket vs Oshwal @Oshwal

The U19’s played their first Cricket fixture against Oshwal at the Sir Ali Sports club

It was a great opportunity for many of the players to get first hand experience of playing in a cricket match, especially those who were playing above their age group. Overall it was a decent performance considering this is the first time many of the players had been involved in a cricket match. Oshwal were an experienced team and demonstrated this with their batting expertise scoring a total of 226 runs. Our fielding was not the best and we hope to improve on this in further training sessions. BGR scored a total of 95 runs. A special mention to Mustapha who scored 50+ for the team showing great perseverance and leadership,

We look forward to more training sessions and building up the confidence of the team to compete against the schools in our circuit. Our next fixture is in 2 weeks at Peponi so we hope for a much better result.

ISK Cross Country, U14 5K Boys & Girls

It was a lovely afternoon for the Under 14 girls and boys as they explored their first competitive cross-country event of the season. All the students put in a great effort navigating the terrain and completing the 5km forest course.

Our first finisher, Maxmillan, came fifth overall in the boys' category. Tara scooped bronze among the girls, opening what is bound to be a splendid season.

Great effort all around! We are incredibly proud and looking forward to more events ahead.

U17 Girls Netball vs Hillcrest @Hillcrest

The Under 17 girls had their netball match against Hillcrest on Tuesday afternoon. It was an intense match, marked by moments of brilliance and bouts of uphill tasks. The team led in the first two quarters, but lost the lead in the third quarter, leading up to the seven point-difference loss. However, it was a wonderful learning experience. The girls were able to contemplate on their strengths and challenges, and discuss the improvements we should make. Good show of resilience from the girls; looking forward to better times ahead.

U19 & U15 Boys A & B football triangular vs Turi and Braeside

The boys did well to put in a fight and were significantly better for both second-halves but early mistakes with the goals conceded proved a mountain too high to climb. It was not a great day for the boys U15s triangular. The boys really struggled today against Turi and Braeside who were just another level above us. We hope for a turn around in our next fixture against Peponi.

BGE track meet

BGR athletes came together to compete in their first track meet at BGE. It was a tough day for the students with strong competition from the other schools. Despite this, BGR prevailed and put in some great performances for their events. Some of the students had previously competed but for many it was their first time. Nonetheless, they all did really well managing placement in the top 3 in the majority of their races. It was a great opportunity for the team to bond and we hope to carry this energy into the next competition!

U19 & U15 Girls A & B netball triangular vs Turi and Braeside

The U15 and U19 girls had their netball triangular fixtures last Saturday morning. Both teams were eager for the experience, considering historical performances against both teams. In the first match of the day, the teams scored tremendous wins against Braeside. Later, both teams would concede narrow losses to St. Andrew's School, Turi. However, their spirits remained high, as assurances all around from players, spectators, and coaches were that they had played a beautiful game. Always proud of these teams, their efforts are visible and will undoubtedly bear fruit.

U15 boys A & B football @Peponi

The U15s football team travelled to Peponi today for a league fixture.. We were hoping to bounce back from our recent performances and come back with a win. Unfortunately the match did not go our way, narrowly losing to Peponi 1-0. However, it was a very tight game and the boys were putting in a lot of effort to create chances throughout the match. They all stepped up their performance and applied what we have been practising in training but we must take our chances in the match. Looking forward to getting our first win of the season in Saturday's tournament.

U15 girls A & B netball @ BGR

The U15A girls delivered an impressive performance in their first league match against Brookhouse Karen, securing a commanding 20-5 victory. The team's cohesion was evident, particularly in the way the new Year 9 players connected seamlessly with the more experienced Year 10s. The Year 10s not only showcased their skills but also stepped up as leaders on the court, guiding their younger teammates effectively. It was great to see the team play with such unity and determination, making for an exciting and well-deserved win. Excited for the season ahead! 😊
